Most of us have fond memories
of clotheslines and the simpler times they represent. Our mothers and
grandmothers did the washing by hand and hung it on the line every Monday.
The Clothesline reminisces about how backyards on wash day were
full of revelations. One glance at a clothesline told everything about
the new family down the block--did they have boys or girls? Did they
use plain or fancy sheets? Nowadays, we rarely pass up a chance to hang
clothes on the line, for nothing beats the smell of clothes dried in
fresh air and sunshine.
